What it is
A three-knob vocal forward push designed for the most common vocal problems on mixed material: low-mid build-up, lack of presence, vocals sitting too far back. Each knob targets one specific area with a coupled EQ + dynamic curve, calibrated for vocal frequencies. No need to identify exact bands: turn the knob, hear what changes, dial back if it's too much.
How to use it
- Clarity is the master amount: it scales a 300 Hz mud cut plus a 3.5 kHz presence boost together, and engages the de-esser, so one move pushes the vocal forward without making it harsh
- Mud Cut cleans the low-mid build-up (around 300 Hz) where vocal "boxy" / "boomy" feels live — reduces it without thinning the warmth
- Presence boosts a peaking band at 3.5 kHz — adds articulation and brings the vocal close without sibilance
- Clarity defaults to 0%; Mud Cut and Presence both default to 50%. Push gradually; small moves usually do the job
What it affects
Vocal-forward tracks (pop, hip-hop, singer-songwriter, AI-generated vocal material) where the vocal is buried or unclear. Works on the full master, but targets the frequency ranges where vocals live, so instrument balance is largely unaffected. Pairs well with AI Artifact Suppressor for shimmer and De-Esser for sibilance — three different tools, three different vocal problems.
